Framework
A speech therapist working with a young child at a table.

You know what great therapy looks like. Build the practice that delivers it.

Own your caseload, your schedule, and your practice.

We're looking for licensed Bay Area speech-language pathologists who want to go independent. We help the clinicians we back get launched, find clients, and handle billing and operations.

No fee to apply. About 5 to 8 minutes.

Where we're starting

Built for the Bay Area. Five counties first.

Every business in the first cohort launches in one of five counties. That is where we know the market, the licensing, and the neighborhoods, and where we can show up in person.

  • Marin CountySan Rafael, Novato, Mill Valley
  • San Francisco CountyThe city, all neighborhoods
  • San Mateo CountyDaly City to Menlo Park
  • Alameda CountyOakland, Berkeley, Fremont, Hayward
  • Contra Costa CountyWalnut Creek, Concord, Richmond

Live outside these counties? Apply anyway and tell us where. We expand based on where strong candidates are.

Why ownership

Why owning this business is worth it.

Control your caseload

School and hospital caseloads are often decided for you. In your own practice you choose who you serve, how often, and for how long.

Families seek out great clinicians

Parents and adult clients refer the SLP who made a real difference. Your reputation should build your practice.

Room to add clinicians

Many private SLP practices grow to a small team of therapists. That is a business with real value, not just a job you gave yourself.

The honest part

What usually makes it hard

Most people who are excellent at this work never start a company. It is rarely the work that stops them. It is everything around it.

  • Choosing private-pay, insurance, school contracts, or a mix
  • Credentialing and dealing with authorizations
  • Finding clients without a district or hospital referral flow
  • Setting up documentation, teletherapy, and scheduling tools
  • Billing, claims, and collections
  • Managing intake, cancellations, and communication with families

What Framework does for a speech therapy business

You bring the skill and reputation. We help build everything around it.

If selected, we build a launch plan with you. It includes:

  • Practice setup
  • Credentialing and payer workflow coordination where applicable
  • Website and brand
  • Client and referral acquisition
  • Scheduling and intake
  • Billing infrastructure
  • Documentation and teletherapy software setup
  • Bookkeeping and operations
  • School and clinic contract support
  • Hiring additional clinicians later

The specifics depend on the business and on you. We work them out together, in writing, before anyone commits.

No fee to apply. About 5 to 8 minutes.

Who we look for

Who is a strong candidate

We care more about your ability and ambition than whether you've started a business before.

  • Active California SLP license in good standing
  • Several years of clinical experience
  • Strong relationships with clients and families
  • Organized and comfortable with documentation
  • Genuine desire to own a practice

Licensing and eligibility

You must hold an active California speech-language pathology license in good standing and comply with all rules of the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board. Payer participation depends on individual credentialing. We can help coordinate the process, but you must meet all applicable requirements to practice.

Applicants must satisfy all applicable licensing, professional, and regulatory requirements for their field. Framework can help coordinate the process but does not grant, waive, or substitute for any license or credential.
