Framework
A caregiver holding an older woman's hands in her living room.

Families already trust you with their parents. Own the agency they call.

Recurring clients, a team of caregivers you choose, and an agency with your name on it.

We're looking for experienced Bay Area caregivers, care coordinators, and senior care professionals who want to go independent. We help the people we back get licensed, find families, and handle the business side.

No fee to apply. About 5 to 8 minutes.

Where we're starting

Built for the Bay Area. Five counties first.

Every business in the first cohort launches in one of five counties. That is where we know the market, the licensing, and the neighborhoods, and where we can show up in person.

  • Marin CountySan Rafael, Novato, Mill Valley
  • San Francisco CountyThe city, all neighborhoods
  • San Mateo CountyDaly City to Menlo Park
  • Alameda CountyOakland, Berkeley, Fremont, Hayward
  • Contra Costa CountyWalnut Creek, Concord, Richmond

Live outside these counties? Apply anyway and tell us where. We expand based on where strong candidates are.

Why ownership

Why owning this business is worth it.

Demand keeps growing

The Bay Area is aging, and most families want a parent to stay at home for as long as possible. Good in-home care is scarce and referred by name.

Care is recurring

Clients need help every week, often every day, for months or years. That is steady revenue built on relationships, not one-off jobs.

Built to hire

An agency grows by adding caregivers you trained and trust. That is a business with real value, not just a job you gave yourself.

The honest part

What usually makes it hard

Most people who are excellent at this work never start a company. It is rarely the work that stops them. It is everything around it.

  • Getting a Home Care Organization license through the California Department of Social Services
  • Registering caregivers as Home Care Aides, with background checks and training hours
  • Finding the first families without a hospital, placement agency, or referral network behind you
  • Scheduling shifts across clients and covering call-outs at 6 a.m.
  • Payroll, workers' comp, overtime rules, and liability insurance for hourly caregivers
  • Invoicing families, long-term care insurance, and the occasional public program
  • Documenting care plans and visits well enough to satisfy families and regulators
  • Hiring and keeping caregivers you would trust in your own parent's home

What Framework does for a geriatric care business

You bring the skill and reputation. We help build everything around it.

If selected, we build a launch plan with you. It includes:

  • Agency setup
  • Home Care Organization licensing and Home Care Aide registration coordination
  • Insurance and bonding coordination
  • Brand and website
  • Family and referral acquisition
  • Phones and intake
  • Shift scheduling and care documentation software
  • Invoicing and long-term care insurance billing workflows
  • Payroll and bookkeeping systems
  • Caregiver hiring and training

The specifics depend on the business and on you. We work them out together, in writing, before anyone commits.

No fee to apply. About 5 to 8 minutes.

Who we look for

Who is a strong candidate

We care more about your ability and ambition than whether you've started a business before.

  • Several years of hands-on senior care experience, as a caregiver, CNA, home health aide, nurse, or care coordinator
  • Calm, patient, and trusted by the families you have worked with
  • Comfortable coordinating a team and covering when plans change
  • Organized about documentation and schedules
  • Genuine desire to own an agency

Licensing and eligibility

In California, a business that arranges or provides non-medical in-home care must be licensed as a Home Care Organization by the Department of Social Services, and its caregivers must be registered Home Care Aides with cleared background checks and required training. Skilled nursing and other medical services fall under separate licensing that this model does not cover. Local business licenses, bonding, and insurance also apply. We can help coordinate the process, but you must meet all applicable requirements to operate.

Applicants must satisfy all applicable licensing, professional, and regulatory requirements for their field. Framework can help coordinate the process but does not grant, waive, or substitute for any license or credential.

The Framework deal

We invest up to $25,000. We take 7%.

Some regulated professions, including law practices, require a different legal structure with similar economics. We review the exact terms with you, in writing, before anyone commits.
